Latest tests are in … Looking good!

Almost exactly a year after my first blood tests (Sept 27, 2005–Sept 29, 2006), I went in for the most recent round. I’ve been feeling pretty good on my current prescription (105mg Armour Thyroid: 60mg early afternoon, 45mg at bedtime), plus Thyromine and vitamins in the morning.

So, I was optimistic that my blood levels had dropped enough from last time (when my T4 and T3 was acceptable to the PhA, but my TSH was 10Xs lower than the bottom end of normal, and she wasn’t comfortable with that, so she lowered my dose from 120mg/day to 105mg), that the doc would be willing to renew my current prescription.

So, without further ado, here’s my latest labs:

September 2006
Labs: (29 Sept.)
TSH: 0.605 uIU/mL (normal: 0.350–5.500)
T4, Free (Direct): 0.84 ng/dL (normal 0.6–1.76)
Triiodothyronine, Free, Serum (T3): 3.0 pg/mL (normal: 2.3–4.2)

There aren’t any Vitals to go with this round, because my clinic bill is rather large, and the PhA & I agreed that if my labs were good and I was feeling good, she’d just renew the prescription without me having to go in to see her.

So, it only took a year, a lot of research, and more than a couple persistent requests on my part (to try Armour instead of generic Levothyroxine), and I’m finally feeling good AND have established level with all my blood tests that’s well within “normal” by any standard.

Not to say I’m going to abandon this site now that my personal trials seem to be temporarily done … I plan to keep reading books and doing research, and trying different vitamins and supplements, and a friend of mine even threatened to make me start exercising with her on a regular basis! ;-)

Stay tuned!

The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland at the front of your neck, just below your adam's apple. Thyroid hormones control the body's metabolism. When it doesn't produce enough hormones, you have hypothyroidism.
