Within “Normal” Range

Posted on: December 30, 2005 | Posted in: My Story

Just got back from the dr’s office. Apparently my TSH is within normal range now. My temperature was exactly 98.6. So supposedly that means I am all better. But I’m not entirely convinced my symptoms are entirely gone… Still have issues with listlessness and general gloom a lot of the time, so now (since my TSH is normal, it couldn’t be that, right?) the doctor is starting to talk about anti-depressants.

This does not make me happy. I am suggesting a possible addition of Cytomel T3 to my medication, or trying Armour Thyroid for a couple of months, just to see if things improve more. So she wants to do another Free T4 and Free T3 test before writing a new prescription. I don’t see what it would hurt to let me try something different though. If my symptoms improved, then good! If my symptoms didn’t change, or they got worse, I could go back to the levothyroxine.

No harm, no foul, right? You won’t know if you don’t try it, and so on. So I guess this is where we start to butt heads. I guess I will just keep asking until she gives in?

About

The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland at the front of your neck, just below your adam's apple. Thyroid hormones control the body's metabolism. When it doesn't produce enough hormones, you have hypothyroidism.
